D&M has adopted a special approach to software delivery and documentation based on the following concerns:
1. The creation, printing and mailing of disks, docs and packaging can easily quadruple the cost of software—and it most certainly represents a devastating waste of paper, plastic and ancillary media.
2. Developers are very sophisticated users. As such they rarely read full documentation, but merely refer to portions as needed.
3. Most documentation is out-of-date within a few months of its printing. Once a large number of manuals are printed, however, they must either continue in use (depriving you of the benefit of updated docs) or the excess is relegated landfill while a new batch is printed...only to fall out-of-date again a few months hence.
D&M has, therefore, decided to deliver its software and documentation electronically—via information services—to save our planet's trees, our customers' money...and to let you choose how much and which parts of our documentation you need to print.
Docs delivered online are guaranteed to be the latest versions available. If small changes are occur, addenda are also delivered online to our customers. If significant changes accrue, a completely revised set of docs is e-mailed to registered users. Free updates (bug fixes) are also delivered online. Upgrades to the CyberDEFs (with added functionality) are delivered online to those who pay the published upgrade fee.
